a book of the Old Testament, according to tradition, written by Jeremiah. By Christians it is customarily placed among the prophetic books, following Jeremiah, but in the Hebrew Bible it is classed among the sacred writings (Hagiographa) rather than among the Prophets (Nebiim). Abbr: Lam.
